The village of Santa Margalida dates back to the 13th-15th century. It owes its name to the dedication of Santa Margarita, to whom the church built in the farmhouse of Hiachat or Yach was dedicated. The village of Santa Margalida is famous in Mallorca for the celebration of the procession of the Beata. This procession is held on the first Sunday in September. It begins in the morning with the demons walking through the streets of the village to wake up the villagers with the sound of the bells that they wear on their clothing.
Late in the evening the procession begins, presided over by the Blessed, who walks through the streets accompanied by peasants, bands and floats representing different passages from the life of the saint. But what will undoubtedly surprise you most is the sight of the demons trying to snatch the vases carried by the peasants to break them on the ground at the feet of the Blessed, while they dance around her. This unique procession closes with the last crack of the vases that the demons break in the church square.
